Sinharaja Forest Reserve: The Prehistoric Rainforest

Sinharaja is Sri Lanka's last viable primary tropical rainforest and a UNESCO World Heritage Biosphere Reserve. It is a biodiversity hotspot of international significance, home to a vast majority of the island's endemic trees, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Trekking through the dense, prehistoric canopy is an immersive experience. A licensed guide is required for entry. Visit from December to April. Sinharaja is a must-visit for serious naturalists, hikers, and those who want to explore the raw, untouched heart of Sri Lanka's tropical jungle ecosystem.
